Part 1. Creating depth in an image using light and shadow.

This was a huge learning curve for me. I also learned something about myself. Thank you for the extra help with this Anthony although I feel like I need about 50 flashcards pictures to get it down. I don’t have this one down yet. This will mark my starting point and I am going to revisit this from time to time and hopefully there will be progress.

Part 2. Negative space around a subject to make it pop.

Sorry for the large image. I thought I understood how to resize it on the desk top. When I imported to the site it is still really large.

Did you make the export on the long side or the short side. Being in portrait mode makes the difference. This size looks good to me though.

Did you see my previous comments for these images? They seems to have gone…this issue is now fixed for future posts. Anyhoo, these are great. I especially like the farm among the turbines. It would be fun to work with that image.

The turbines and weathervane(?) is a great shot. I like the way you placed the fence in the foreground – it really lends to the sense of place. Cloth and Cross – is another good composition with some fantastic light.

Challenge: Create an image with depth using light and shadows. This is actually a fairly small angel ornament on a gravestone, but from this angle it seems huge!

You nailed this one too. Classic example of light creating depth with shadow.

Very nicely done. You are showing a good understanding of negative space.
